Innovative Enterprises - Professional Experience
During the fall of 2002, John Mellencamp approached the Department of Telecommunications at Indiana University in Bloomington and asked if a documentary could be made about the making of his next music album. The Department of Telecommunications agreed to embark on this legendary project and a group of students were assembled to put the documentary together.
In Spring 2003, production began on the documentary "Trouble No More - The Making of a John Mellencamp Album". Then a senior at Indiana University, Joey served as a Video Logger / Audio Transcriber and is credited as ‘Production Assistant’ on the documentary, led by Executive Producer and Indiana University Professor Ron Osgood. The documentary was aired regionally on WTIU-PBS in central and southern Indiana and aired nationally on the Trio Channel on DirectTV and digital cable. After being picked up by Redline Entertainment, the documentary was released for sale on DVD in the fall of 2003 by Best Buy,
Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers. In September 2004, the documentary won The Cleveland Regional Emmy Award® for "Best Entertainment Special".
In August 2005, Innovative Enterprises was officially founded. The slogan and domain name "become innovative" was adopted in January 2006.
In May 2006, production began on the documentary titled "Road Trip 2006 - East Coast" where Joey takes a journey from Chicago to the east coast and up into Canada with his longtime friend, Tim. The documentary is approximately 85 minutes long and features a road trip through Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, New York City, Boston, Maine, Lake Placid, Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Detroit. The two boys come across some odd circumstances, including electrical lines in the water and a secluded, eerie motel in Maine. Production was completed in May 2007.
On December 31, 2006, a two minute segment from "Road Trip 2006 - East Coast" featuring Ground Zero in New York City was featured nationally on ITV in the United Kingdom in a documentary titled "I Was There - The People’s Review 2006", which is a feature looking back at the events of 2006.
In February 2009, Joey won a National Merit award at the 24th Annual Admissions Marketing Awards for his video "Robert Morris University - Chicago Campus Tour".
